Hi everyone. I've been enjoying all the posts and information for quite awhile now, but this is my first post.

I'm almost 41y/o, with the typical "horseshoe" hair. It's been very slowly getting worse for about a decade, and I just used the hair fiber concealer. About 2 years ago, my wife cheated on me, which led to a divorce and a very rapid acceleration in my hair loss. Being 40 and newly single, I decided I should try to at least keep what hair I have, so I started following some advice on here...

I started Minoxidil 5% (generic "up & up" Target brand) 2x per day at the end of April, and started on 1mg Finasteride 1x per day at the beginning of June. I also use (daily) a collogen/biotin shampoo that I found at Target. I also ordered the "Derminator" dermapen from overseas, whic I've used twice. It's hard to find a good time to do it as it takes a couple days to heal and I can't really go to work with a bloody, red scalp.

I will finally get to my question now...Just in the past few days, I've noticed a pretty substantial increase in the very light "peach fuzz" type hairs on the crown of my head. These were not there a month ago. When I touched the top of my head previously, it was just smooth skin. Now I have a pretty fair amount of hair up there, but it is so thin and light that my scalp is fully exposed. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, so my question is, will these hairs thicken and darken in color? My normal hair color is a medium to dark brown, so will the hairs darken eventually, or will these thin, almost clear colored new hairs just fall out eventually? They are long enough (probably a half inch or so) that I can actually pinch my fingers and pull on them a little...I couldn't do that a month ago.

I will post some pictures once I've been on my routine for a couple months. I'm taking them every couple weeks.

Thanks everyone. Have a great day.

In normal people with no miniaturisation, Yes, those small thin non-pigment hairs will start to grow longer and darker. However, in people who have male pattern baldness, the miniaturisation has occurred already which essentially prevents the hairs from going 'terminal' (darker and longer).

The medicines you are taking, finasteride and minoxidil, try to work against miniaturisation so the hairs you have may start to grow in a little yes, that would suggest that what you are doing is working.
