First appointment with a dermatologist

Hey guys!

My first appointment with a dermatologist is coming up in two days and I was wondering if you guys had any advice/suggestions for anything I should ask or bring up? I have my own list of questions and concerns but I was wondering if there’s anything else that I might not have thought about bringing up?

I mainly have a receding hairline right now but I’m starting to shed a lot of hairs and I believe I’m following my older brother’s pattern of hairloss (receding hairline for 2-4 years then thinning on top). He’s three years older than me and I’m almost 19.

My main objective of this appointment is to get prescribed propecia so I can start the big three. I’ve started using nizoral twice a week and I have a year supply of Rogaine but haven’t started using it yet. Should I get my blood tested or make any special requests?

Thanks

I think old zzzz will back me up here. You really dont need to start rogaine if you only have a receding hairline. Rogaine is only if you need to regrow hair that you've lost. Unless your hairline is looking really bad... But even then I reckon you should start finasteride and see what it does after a few months before starting rogaine.

Just make sure you walk out of there with a prescription for propecia!

Good luck man!

Thanks man! Hairline isn't too bad, right side is a bit worse than the left but there are a lot of miniaturized hair on the right side that if they grow back it'll be even so im hoping minoxidil will help with that. But I'm also thinking it might be a good idea to just do a few months on finasteride and see how that does on it's own, that way when I add in minoxidil I can evaluate it independently
