I have naturally fine hair, and have noticed some thinning [cul-de-sacs] as of late.

I also have very oily skin [every morning when i wake up my hair is -very- oily] and I sweat a lot.

From the research I've done on here it appears i have a high production of sebum [unless my oily hair in the morning is due to heavy sweating while i sleep?]

Thus, I am thinking for starters i should look into an anti sebum shampoo such as Nizarol 3x a week, and that "Nioxin Clean Control" between uses.

My question is, with naturally -fine-, oily skin/hair, should i even bother with a conditioner? Or is conditioner a must when using a harsh shampoo like Nizarol? Also, is using both Nizoral and another anti sebum shampoo like Nixoxin Clean Control ok to combine? Or might it be too harsh?

Thanks guys! :]

I'll follow this thread aswell, my hair is also fine and is so goddamn oily in the morning even though I showered the night before, it makes it impossible to style and quite itchy

Yeah guys, this is very common during hair loss, I actually started a thread about it in the experimental treatments section.

Diet makes a significant difference in sebum production I think. Anything that increases IGF-1 like dairy and soy are good to avoid. I also take lots of omega 3 as apparently that is good as it corrects the omega 3 / omega 6 balance.

There probably are ways to shrink sebaceous glands topically as well but I wish I knew what they were.

The shampoo I have chosen (complete with salicylic acid) should be pretty good at solving sebum related problems on the surface, although yeah Nizoral will probably do it too :)

You don't need conditioner.

All that conditioner does is coat your hair with lipids, which your own body appears to be making plenty of already. The Nizoral should be helping contain sebum production... if it in and of itself is not working, you might want to rotate a second antifungal in, such as T-Gel or Head and Shoulders.

hmm.. how can i tell if it's just sweat or sebum?

i ask this cause i need to decide whether to add another antifungal as you mentioned in.

right now i run nizoral every 3ish days and nioxin system 2 inbetween.

maybe increae nizoral as i seem to wake up with very oily hair?
