Hello,

During the last 4 weeks I've thinking to get finasteride prescription and now I have a doctors appointment reserved. Anyway I'm so damn scared about the sides mostly with down there... So I've been thinking should I just try cream instead of pills ? Do you know does it have as good affecting mechanism as pills ? Should I just get the pills and see what my body says and go with that ?

As far as I have read there's still a chance that I don't even get any sides and that would be so awesome but there is always the other side of the story that I could get perm sides before I even know that ?

Anyway I'm 23 year old guy who has noticed this awkward problem as we all here. Anyway here is my topic hairlosstalk.com/interact/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=69764 if you have any comments about that it would be nice!

A bit off-topic: is it still normal that I noticed my hair to leave with a follicle (a white thing at the root ) and I have also noticed that I may have a bit dandruff ? I haven't never had a dandruff problems before.

Thanks !

Topicals won't be as effective however that doesn't mean you need finasteride. How aggressive is your particular hairloss? The more aggressive the hairloss the more aggressive the treatment should be (obviously.)

Sides are very real and serious. Especially with the growing body of information pointing to long term(permanent) sexual dysfunction in some men. Also placebo would be relevant in your case as you're already worried about side effects.

You should always consider worse case scenarios. Many here would probably say you're unlikely to experience sides (true) so don't worry about it and save your hair.

My advice would be to try Nizoral/spironolactone/rogaine. Give it a few months, see how you do (take pictures). These treatments will not produce miracles, perhaps before you try them you should adjust your expectations. Afterward finasteride may be your answer, however you should be able to answer yes to this question before you decide: is possible sexual dysfunction worth possibly saving your hair? If you can deal with the possible side effects, the ones you won't likely get anyway then finasteride may be your answer.

I would say that I'm losing around 150 hairs daily. I've been under lets of stress lately because of the working and because I moved to another country. To be honest my diet haven't been too good either within last 2 months.

So at the moment I've planned to start big3 after christmas because I'm aware of possible shedding I wanna keep my hair as it is during the holidays when I see relatives etc.

I've also thinking to shave my head at the beginning of big3 for "just because I wanna see does bald suit me". What do you guys think is it a bad idea ? I mean it can't affect negatively for my possible hair growth and can I still use rogaine foam if I don't have any hairs ? Just apply it to templates or full head as I would do with hair ?

I find the bald look can be arresting at first, had the same effect when I shaved my beard off. But it is easier to use topicals with your head shaved, that I can say for sure. Plus you don't notice the shedding as much if at all when it's shaved. I was happy just because I could wash my hair without staring at a handful of hairs afterward.

I don't see any leaving hairs while I'm in shower.. I've just noticed that sometimes when I touch my hair during day I see one to three hairs on my hand... I've started to think that am I only paranoid and has that happened before but I just haven't paid an attention. Because now when I'm thinking that I may be losing my hair I pay too much attention for it in every day.

Seriously I may stare mirror about 10-15min at the morning and try to see changes on my hair and every time I visit restroom I stare mirror like 2-4mins and try to convince to myself that my hair is okay.

This is also affecting for my sleeping, I'm afraid to sleep because while I'm sleeping I will rub my head against the pillow and I'm afraid that may speed up the possible hair loss... Lol I know it sounds so stupid !

Yeah I will give it a try. I'm already a bit excited to see the doctor. It's weird because at sometimes it looks that my hair is totally okay as it was let say 3 to 4 years a go and sometimes it looks so thin and bad. So I really don't know is it inside of my head only. At least when I spoke with my parents they said it's okay but anyway I wanna see the doctor asap.

Anyway I've been hoping that this might be Telogen Effluvium but I guess I can't know and that's why I wanna get some finasteride.
