Finastride Has Changed Me. Inside And Out.

I started finastride almost 6 month's ago. The first two months were quite horrible. Besides experiencing a massive shed, my libido and mood were both at an all time low. But things gradually began to improve over time but took a nose dive in the last 5-6 weeks.

It's really hard for me to explain what's happened to me. It's almost like I've had a personality overhaul. I feel like I don't give a sh*t about anything anymore, like I literally have no interest in anything. I feel like I'm here, but I'm not, if that even makes sense? I also feel like I'm coming across as arrogant yet almost over confident when talking to people now.

I've been working abroad for the last 6 months, the same time I started taking this medication. I returned home a few days ago and since then family and friends have told me multiple times that they've noticed a big chang in both personality and looks. Besides having more hair, I've been told my skin looks much healthier, softer and more feminine?

I'm normally the first person to roll my eyes when I see someone post something like "dick stopped working after taking 0.25mg of finastride for 3 days". A good percentage of posts on this forum are complete bs. But I really have been having a lot of trouble lately getting an erection or becoming aroused. It's almost non existent at this stage and I'm really starting to get worried about it.

Has anyone experienced anything like this 6 months or more into taking finastride?

Yep, exactly what I experienced after the 3 week mark.
No way. Im week 3 mark right now and i feel that my libido died, dick feels limp, mood is extremely low and feels like i have slight brain fog.

Did you quit? Did you try to ride it out?

I'm only 3 weeks in, man, and i feel the symptoms you describe. I lost interest in everything, i dont feel excited about things anymore. I dont have a drive to f*** girls and dont have a drive in life overall. Not so long ago it wasnt like this.

This paragraph from the study speaks a lot. Basically it has been proven by researches that finasteride can cause significant worsening or appearance of depression.

5alpha-reductase is a critical enzyme in the conversion of several steroids such as testosterone, progesterone, aldosterone and corticosterone in the brain. This enzyme converts testosterone to the most natural potent androgen DHT, and also it acts an important role in conversion of progesterone to dihhydroprogesterone (DHP). DHP is further converted to allopregnanolone (5alpha, 3alpha-tetrahydroprogesterone) by 3alpha-HSD [9,21]. Allopregnanolone is a modulator of gamma amino butyric acid type A receptor (GABA-A), and increases chloride conductance. This neurosteroid has been found to exert anti-convulsant, anesthetic and anxiolytic effects [22-24]. Moreover, change in the levels of allopregnanolone is found to be associated with depressive disorders. [25,26]

I tried to ride it out for another 7-8 months. I have maybe like three major regrets in my life. That was one of them.

I think I'll continue for another couple of month's to see how it goes. If I'm as bad then as I am now, I won't be left with much of a choice but to quit. I'm terrified of losing my hair again if I stop, considering the progress I've made. I don't think minoxidil and dermarolling alone will save my hair. But these side effects are not worth it. I absolutely hate what's happening to me.

That happened to me whilst I was on Accutane; I got severe depression as a side effect...

I'm currently on spironolactone and estradiol, and I did notice a drop in libido. But, after thinking I have always had a low libido due to depression so the difference wasn't too drastic to me.

Do you like your skin looking healthier, softer and more feminine? Personally, I think that's a good side effect since women have such nice skin...

I guess I can't complain about having healthier looking skin. My skin was horrific up until my early twenties. I was also on Accutane, but thankfully I didn't have any side effects.

are you a male to female yourself ? or just trying to save yourself no matter the drug

I’m a male, and I’m doing it because the results are far more great compared to finasteride, dutasteride or minoxidil.
