Hi,

I want to hear from Propecia users who have good hairlines and temples, but only have thinning of the crown/vertex, such as myself. I want to hear about your success/failures/expectations/process .. please indulge me.

I have a good hairline & temples.. I'm thinning only on my crown/vertex and I am 27 years old. I noticed thinning about 1 year ago and hopped onto Propecia about 8 months ago. It's noticable but not 'bothersome' at this stage, as in I don't have any big slick spots... just a diffuse style thinning over the crown/vertex areas.

In the last 8 months I feel that I have been maintaining very well.. and after a couple months of irritated scalp and problem specific spot itches, everything has calmed down.. especially with the nizoral use 2 - 3x a week. I feel that the irritation/itching during the first few months of finasteride was a result of the changes taking place in my body/scalp involving DHT obviously. My scalp feels great these days. :)

I have had zero side effects with finasteride.

I think I'm one of those good responders, but I know I must wait a year or more to see how things go.. I will wait til then before deciding to add minoxidil to my regimen.

Anyway, I just wanted to hear from the vertex/crown thinners on finasteride, who, like me have good hairline & temples... I'm just trying to keep it focussed on this area thank you.

note: I currently shave my head with clippers using a #2 attachment (u.s. size). I like it ;) I have dark, thick hair. Before shaving my head, I went from slicked back mobster hair, to shoulder length rocker hair, back to a shorter 'greaser' style, and now the short short :) ... I find that the #2 is comfortable and noticable thinning or not, I say fuckit.

Also, that is not me in my icon, it is Dave Vanian of The Damned. ;)

Happy St. Patty's Day folks, I'm drinkin' right now, it does a body GOOD!

I have a good hair line even after male pattern baldness hit me 3 years ago..temples are NW1 and it hasnt go worst....staying there for 3 years with slight "stabilisation" wh..the rest of the scalp is rather good with no "see thru scalp" effect...quite significant thinning at the vertex. On Propecia for close to 3 months..havent seen results yet but relatives coment that hair is getting better...probably cause of the good shampoo i using currently...

My male pattern baldness seeems to be slow and gradual...

BUMP!

I KNOW there are more of you finasteride users who are only concerned with your crown/vertex ... c'mon speak up, most of the sad talk around here is from guys with bad hairlines and good crowns!

Hy Misterium,

I just passed the 9 month Propecia/ Regaine (2%) mark - as for the vertex,
I really regrew a lot of hair - it looks better than ever!
When I started, my hair was thinning, and I had a very thin spot at the vertex-now it completely filled up!
As for the front, I have this see-trough-scalp effect, but it's not that bad.

So cross your fingers for my frontal - I'll do the same for your vertex.
Don't worry - stay on your regimen!

Cheers,
Surfer

Hey All

I'm one of the "friar tuck" variety male pattern baldness sufferers. Like most of you, it's only thinning at this stage, and no slick bald patches.

Have been on finasteride and minoxidil for 2 years with maintenance and no real regrowth.

Looking to buy a lasercomb soon, which i hope will thicken things up at the back.
