Hello.
I've been on Finasteride for 8 years and it seems to have stopped working. I have been shedding a lot for the past 2 months and I'm panicking. I would like to ask for any helpful answers to these questions. Please answer the ones you can as best to your ability if you can. I would appreciate it so much

1. Will changing to dutasteride help? (I know everyone's experience is different but what ads my chances in your opinion?)

2. What dosage of dutasteride do I take?

3. Do I have to take dutasteride daily.? Apparently the half life is longer, so is it enough to take twice per week?

4. How do I transition from Finasteride to dutasteride. Do I keep taking Finasteride while adjusting to dutasteride?

5. Are the side effect of dutasteride worth it? Should I just go for hair system?

Thanks in advance guys.

some additional information:

I lost my libido and my erections while on Finasteride and this lasted for several years. However now that the shedding has started my dick works amazingly and my libido is back to normal. I don't know if this means that the pills don't work anymore?

I'm no expert, but to me it sounds like it's time for dutasteride.
Yeah but do I just quit finasteride cold turkey and jump on dutasteride? And do I take dutasteride everyday? I read some people only take it a few times per week. It's all so confusing

I'd start 2 or 3 times a week, then move up if needed. It's powerful and it's half-life much longer than Finasteride. Good luck.

You could also derma roll once a week.

Thanks dude. I guess I'll do dutasteride 0,5mg twice per week and Finasteride on the off days. Hopefully that will stop the shedding.

Its def dutasteride time, but be prepared for a massive shed upon starting. It’s notorious for that. finasteride taper is smart.

Dude, I have started taking finasteride 1 mg daily since 10 days , i have diffuse thinning and my hairline is still intact but im shedding like hell . When did it start working with you and u could see some results?
When did u start losing ur libido and get affected with the other side effects?!

Im good , but not sure if my erection is weaker than before or is it just the placebo effect!

I saw ur pics and it looks good! I also would like to see “ before pics”
Would appreciate it.
Thank u man

It was such a long time ago for me. I started taking them at 19. I think the shedding stopped at around a couple of months. Don't panic. Shedding is normal and it will take some time for it to start working. Important thing is that your hair follicles will be protected and they'll grow out new hairs.

I got side effects almost immediately. My erections were weaker and libido decreased. But for me it was worth it cause I value hair more. The funny thing is that after all these years everything is back to normal. My sex drive is back and my erections are better than ever. Don't panic over side effects. Keep going at it and see what happens. Cause it could be psychological as well.

The pics are horrible in my opinion. You can see diffuse loss everywhere. I lost so much density. You can see through my scalp. And what before pictures do you want? You mean before I started the medication?

Well for me it took a couple of years. But most people it goes away after a couple of months so. Just wait it out and see how it works out for you. If you can't handle it just stop using the pulls.

My case is good because I've been on medication for years. The issue is that I'm shedding heavily right now. At this rate I'll be a Norwood 4 in a couple of months. That's why im asking people for advice about dutasteride.

I tried digging through old photos. The issue is that I used to have long "skater like hair" (think Logan Paul). So you couldn't see my hairline. But here are some pics with shorter hair. You can see the recession and how thin it is. It looked much worse in real like. People in real life told me I was losing my hair so it was very obvious.
