Finasteride shed? Or not working..

Hey guys,

So I've been on 1.25mg finasteride for a year and 1 year and 3 months also used minoxidl for like a year before that. Within the first year, I had no shed al AT ALL. Hair pretty much stayed the same ( only took it because of some rounding of my widows peak on the right side). I did experience a loss of libido and a sort of numb dick feeling but it went away (around 3 months in).

Well, on November 2nd of this year I got a weird pain on the left side of my head above my hairline. Two days later, another pain. When I went to style my hair in the morning, I could see my scalp on the left side which I NEVER had a problem with. After I noticed that random hair loss, I started getting a weird painful scalp on that side (felt bruised) and my hair all over my head started to shed rapidly in the shower (about 100-150). This was crazy because I've never seen this happen ever before.

When this shed and pain happened I had weird symptoms

-scalp pain
-elevated libido
-fast recession of left hairline ( looks chewed up or something)

The shed started in November and stopped being as hectic beginning of January. However, my scalp still hurts ( almost stings) and my question is, does this normally happen during a shed from finasteride?

Any suggestions would be f******** awesome.

Forgot to mention that the elevated libido was at the beginning of the shed and kind of died off, but I stopped using finasteride 5 days ago because after the shed, I started getting pimples along my hairline and sideburns.

I've read a few people having this problem with no definitive answer. My suggestion is first go see your doctor or derm maybe have some blood work done. In the meantime I would try lowering the dosage to .50 or maybe EOD or MWF.

Thanks for the reply TD500. Yea idk what I'm gonna do anymore. Had bloodwork and all was normal and saw two seems both of which told me to stop taking finasteride. At the start of this I really thought I had Telogen Effluvium because in the summer, I started p90x and limited my calorie intake a lot even though I was only 160lbs.. I stopped p90x mid July. I did have about 4 cavities filled and two root canals this summer lol. He does use amalgam fillings so maybe this caused it?

Don't know, but my scalp is in pretty crappy condition when it NEVER used to be. I can't even use minoxidil foam without getting a few pimples now.
