Finasteride on and off and back on again

There is little research on the effects of long-term finasteride users who have used it for 5+ years, quit for 2+ years and then start back on it again.

Has anyone here have any personal experience with this? I'm wondering what I should expect as far as potential side effects if any.

There are a couple of studies indicating it is safe long term, including one that is for a ten year duration. I was trying to find one study that showed finasteride has slightly more side effects than placebo but that there was no difference between the two groups, in terms of side effects, after 5 years.

I would google search finasteride long term studies to get more reassurance. On another note, the drug has been available for close to 20 years, so we know it probably isn't killing people left and right.
