4 years ago I started to take topical finasteride with minoxidil and retin a compounded. .01%/10%/.01% respectively per 60ml. Came out to about 0.1mg of finasteride, very small dosage. Around the 1 year mark I started getting serious gut issues which turned into HS and a serious fistula. I went to my GP and he told me there was no correlation between the hair solution and my gut problems. I also went to go see a colorectal surgeon and they told me I had to get surgery to remove the fistula. It wasn't until I started seeing these big pharma commercials, ie. Skyrizi, that I put thw two together, talking about gut lining issues and microtears in your gut which is in part one of the things I had. Immediately I went cold turkey and stopped applying the topical solution. Within 6 months my symptoms started to subside. My fistula and gut problems are now completely gone, it's been 12 months. Mind you my diet had been always the same. The only thing I attribute my gut problems to is the medication. I advise anyone with any type of gut problems to immediately stop taking finasteride. Now with 'hims' hair solution being pushed on national TV I think we are going to start seeing a massive increase in colorectal cancers. I ended up going to my colorectal doctor and she couldnt believe it. Hope this helps anyone else going through similar side effects.

People have been taking these meds for decades before 'hims' and as far as i know there is no correlation between the meds and cancer.

Increasingly, post-finasteride syndrome is being linked to the idea that finasteride destroys the gut microbiota and makes the intestine permeable, and there are people recovering from PFS with probiotics.

Search on Google — it’s everywhere — so what you’re saying does make sense.
