Finasteride DHT and way of life

Hello everybody,

Despite the fact I'm on fina for 9 months now, I keep on stressing about things that could improve DHT, the kind of things we all worry about without really scientific opinions: you may have read some threads about sex, masturbation, junk food, bodybuilding etc.

But, If I'm on fina, should the drug avoid an increase of DHT whatever I do ? May I eat big pizzas, watch p**rn with Jynx Maze and Remy Lacroix, drink Cherry Coke etc without any problem? Will the fina do the job the whole day?

Thank you, I'm french so I hope my english is ok.

Finasteride is a suicide inhibitor of 5-AR II, so it shouldn't be a problem. Although I would not recommend an unhealthy lifestyle, as this could have an indirect effect on hair through other mechanisms.

Let me tell you I did all those things you said and for the first 24 odd years of my life I had near perfect hair so I guess I was immune to all the negative effects of say pizza. As I got older grew more facial hair faster, and body hair my head hair has slowly over the years thinned out a little. I dont think its a coincidence. I think male pattern baldness is solely caused by androgens. I just dont think propecia is the silver bullet because its too weak, and does not lower T. Also I think receptors and hair adapt over the years to androgen levels but I dont know of much proof for that

Propecia is not too weak, it is very effective at putting breaks on male pattern baldness, even improving it in most cases. Your hair and receptors don't adapt, they just get more vulnerable to senility with age.

Finasteride lowers your most potent sex hormone. Hmmm. Yeah it just might have an effect on your woody. Eating pizza and the rest of that stuff shouldn't effect you too badly. There have been some studies with eating unhealthy linked to early hair loss but I highly doubt it.

It's true, there are lots of studies showing the effects of diet on accelerated male pattern baldness. But you need to be susceptible in the first place.

Castrated men don't lose hair.

For other reasons besides the absence of testosterone.

What do you know about castrated men and hair loss? What are their DHT levels? Is it just because their DHT levels are lower that they do not lose their hair? I read that DHT levels drop 90% in castrated men. This is the same inhibition as Dutasteride. Does this mean if someone is on dutasteride they should never lose their hair or more hair in virtually all cases? This answer is very important to me because I can drop RU from my regimen which I have been considering doing

Yes it is because their DHT is lower. Finasteride should do a great job keeping you from balding. But it's much easier to maintain, than to reverse, irregardless of the 5-AR inhibitor.

I don't need reversal, if dutasteride can maintain for life like a castrated man I could be a flawless nw1 again via transplantation with 1500-2000 grafts probably. This doesn't explain why some people start to lose their hair again after 10 years or so, which I have read a few cases of. I have thought this was because perhaps T plays a minor role in hairloss and is potent enough to continue hairloss in some cases but I guess that may not be the case. I am taking dutasteride now and have no sides. not interested in finasteride

Don't worry, you should keep your hair for a long, long time.

Temple hair might be weakest, but you'll end up a Norwood 1.5-2 at most.

Umm, finasteride has shown to increase testosterone levels.

I would be curious to see a study of androgen receptors before and after a person goes on dutasteride or finasteride for 5+ years how they change or if they do in response to much lower androgen. Maybe its why it loses effectiveness .

They do not lose effectiveness. They actually improve hair gradually with every passing year, where did you hear this?

Dihydrotesterone is more potent then testosterone by 10 times. They have proven that high dht is correlated with frequency of ejaculation erections and sex drive. Sit down son. Believe it or not there is a trade off.
