I have been on Propecia and Xandrox 5% since 11/19/03 and in that time I noticed that I experienced some re-growth starting at about the second month and continiung albeit slowly. From what I read it would have been impossible for the propepica to have been effective in such a short amount of time, so I believe most of my current success was do to the Xandrox. I have been able to re-grow about half the hair I lossed which was not to bad maybe a NW2.5, my question and confusion is when will the Propecia begin to fully work? I did notice that my hair was thicker and fuller after about 2 months on, before such time it was really dying off fast, very limp and lifeless- now it has a renewed vibrance and spring though the density is not there yet.

Anyone know what I can hopefuly expect in the future? I just finished my fourth month on both products. I guess what I am trying to ask is when does or did Propecia make a noticable difference for posters on this board.

Hey Red,

I had the SAME exact experience with minoxidil at about the very same time frame. Basically, I had an initial improvement on the upper 1/4 inch at the tops of my bald temples, and a real invigoration of my hair that used to be thinning and lifeless.

It stopped. But, not completely. I was initially discouraged, but have since noticed here at month 7 that my hair is still improving, but slowly. Basically, it seems like the initial burst of regrowth has turned into a hair-by-hair creeping of my hairline into what was the bald temple. The new hairs that are coming in are a bit curlier than the thick and invigorated hairs behind them, but hell, what can you expect out of a hair follicle that has been producing tiny white sh*t hairs for the last five years? I am thinking that these hairs will in turn also cycle out, or grow out, and thicken up a bit. They say that hairs at the beginning of their growth cycle are always at their thinnest, and the hair diameter continues to thicken as the growth cycle moves along, so I am hopeful. In fact, my hair looks great and I could not be more pleased with the results. I went from a sudden thinning period that would have led me into NW3.5 territory and have managed to maintain a solid NW2.5, with a fantastic cosmetic improvement in overall hair quality and stylability.

Basically, if you are going through what I am, instead of looking for the regrowth at the top of your temples, instead start looking for signs that your temples are being squeezed by the sides of your existing hair.

redbone, im on propecia alone and im sure my hair thickened up at about 2 1/2 months. its thinned again for some time now (im hoping this is a shed) but i cant help feel a little discouraged and question whether or not i did actually get regrowth. i just remind myself that, at the time, when i looked in the mirror i thought sh*t that looks much much thicker than my hair at my last haircut. im at 4 months now and really hope some thickening and regrowth is round the corner bcos, cosmetically, going up or down now will make a big difference to my hairs overall look. anyone whos on propecia seen regrowth around month 4? and in what parts of the head? thanks.
