I am 24 years old. Currently a NW2.5, receding hairline at temples that accelerated in last year or so.
Have been taking 1mg Finasteride daily since 1/15/2014, so approximately half a year. It seemed to thicken the hair at my temples and stop further loss.
I was concerned about potential side effects, but did not notice any.
However, in last few days I have experienced localized swelling of my penis that I attribute most likely to finasteride. I have noticed that during/after masturbating, on the left side of my penis on the shaft just below the head, there is a very prominent raised swelling about the size of the nickel. If I had to describe it I would say it's almost like a raised blister filled with fluid (like one might get after a burn) but whatever liquid is in it seems much more viscous than watery. It is very obvious while I am erect, and for an hour or so afterwards. When flaccid it is barely or not at all noticeable. It is not painful in any way and does not seem to be affecting my ability to maintain an erection.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? If I am having no other noticeable side effects from finasteride, is this reason to stop using? Should I expect this kind of thing to go away over time, or is this a sign of the beginning of potential serious damage to the tissue of my genitals?
