So title basically sums it up. I have been taking finasteride and rogaine for 2.5 years and am continuing to lose hair. A little over a month ago I finally dropped rogaine because it was a waste of money and time for me, with no results. I have considered dutasteride but decided I will not take it because of fear of possible side effects. My hair has gotten especially worse over the past 6 months, so I would like to find an effective treatment fast before time runs out. Is there anything else you guys would recommend me trying? Or am I out of luck until these new treatments are released. Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Also some background info on me:
23 year old male
Started treatment at 20yrs old
Little family history of hair loss (no one before 30s - both older and younger brother have no hair loss)
Hair loss wasn't horrible when starting finasteride and rogaine, but more so used as a preventative measure to future hair loss (hairline was starting to recede)
My hair loss pattern is a very receded hairline, and receding in center, not just temples, but temples very receded. No crown bald spot, but diffuse thinning all over scalp (worst around hairline)

Can you post before and after pictures please? A lot of people think that their hair has gotten worse on treatments when it really hasn't. The mind can play tricks...

dutasteride would be your only option.. I personally wouldn't mingle with it just because of its action on 5ar1 and the fact that 5ar1 plays a huge role in the brain. I'd say it treat with same treatments more aggressively. If you were taking 1 mg finasteride take 1.25 and get back on minoxidil

Or maybe you think you're fine but dutasteride brought you into a vegetative dreamy state where you thought you experienced ar upregulation but really in the conscious world it's been 2 years ur on it and you're nw1... dutasterideception

Platelet rich therapy - but in combination with Adrovart (stronger anti DHT agent), and Minoxidil twice
a day. My recommendation.

Besides dutasteride you could look into RU58841.

Swoop, may I ask why you don't recommend PGD2 antagonist as a potential treatment for those who fail with finasteride / dutasteride?? wouldn't this be the next thing to try? or do you feel drugs like Seti are just too weak, or not effective?

I don't believe anything really has the potential currently to effectively maintain hair long term aside from either reducing androgens or targeting the androgen receptor, with the former being a better option than the latter at this moment.

So overall my recommendations are quite simplistic in it's nature. People should always look at finasteride first, if they get side effects or it doesn't work for them they can look at options like dutasteride or RU.

I know you posted this a while ago, but haven't really been on the forums too much. Where do you get RU58841? Also is it proven to be effective and safe as a treatment for male pattern baldness?
