hey guys
if you go back in my post history you'll be able to see that the first time i took finasteride i got the whole boat load of sides, this was several years ago. However i'm defiantly the sort of guy that overthinks things way to much and have decided to give it another shot. As I've gotten older i think i have gained the ability to be more rational, clinical data suggests that the chances of persistent sides are extremely low as they have never been observed in controlled studies, and furthermore it has been noted in the medical field that finasteride is strongly related to the nocebo effect see "nocebo in dermatolgy" for a scientific discussion of this. Although i do believe pfs is a real thing i'm going to play this by ear and be as rational as possible so i will not be looking at forums or posting at least for a few weeks.

i'm posting this for young people like me just to get an indication of how strong the nocebo effect is and help out younger guys just starting to loose hair and are apprehensive about getting on finasteride. Go back in my post history to see the alleged sides i got the first time around. i'm starting on .25mg every 3 days for starters.
cheers

the first time around i was 18 just like you, i would say they were psychological based on the fact that i don't have them now and i can't see why you would have anymore chance getting the sides at 18 compared to 22. But that being said im only on .25mg every other day atm and am going to work my way up to 1mg so ill let you know but finasteride inhibits almost as much dht at .25mg as 1 mg so i think i'm in the clear. How bad is you're hair loss at the moment? mine was slow enough that i made the decision that i would wait until at least 21 so most of my development would be finished before starting finasteride (even though there's nothing really saying that starting at 18 is a bad thing it was just a personal decisions). look based of clinical evidence which is much better evidence than a biased forum you have very low chances of getting sides in the first place and almost 0 percent chance of getting permanent sides. Permanent sides have never been recorded in any of the clinical trials for finasteride that i'm aware of furthermore i've heard on spencer kobrens show from a hair plant transplant surgeon that he had treated over 10,000 patients with finasteride and has never had anyone complain about persistent side effects. But also pfs is a real syndrome and it's 100% your choice to take it or not. When i had sides the first time around they seemed 100% real which shows how strong the nocebo effect can be, if you're going to give yourself the best chance on the meds i would suggest taking it, not reading the forums and actively distract yourself from thinking of taking the medication. I would also suggest listening to the bald truth radio show episodes where they talk about finasteride i know it helped me allot. Goodluck

finally don't waste years or time thinking about hair loss, life goes on and if you let it consume you're thought process you're going to regret it in years to come, you're in the prime years of your life enjoy it mate. Basically treat it or don't treat it but don't let hair loss hold you back, in the grand scheme of things it really isn't that big a deal no matter what people on this forum will tell you people have had successful lives as bald men from the beginning of time and it will only effect you as much as you let it.
