I am 24, with a massively receeding hairline, first noticed when i was 19 i think.

In january was going through massive shed so jumped on finasteride.

Goal : Maintanance of hairline, stopping further hair loss

Regimen : propecia (finasteride)
nizoral 2-3x week
nanogen intervention (supplement with zinc, mg, saw palmetto, MSM, biotin etc lots of stuff to promote hair growth)
Nanogen follicle defense shampoo 1-2x a week
Alpecin C1 shampoo (for male pattern baldness itch(

CANT TAKE minoxidil due to sides that I got previously (bloated face, dark eye circles)

Baseline pics (technically these are 3 months after starting finasteride and were takin in april but i am below baseline in these pics as i was going through a massive shed):

Questions:

1) What do you think of my hair?
2) Has my regimen worked? Has my hairline receeded further and have i lost more hair?
3) What Norwood would you say I am?
4) Is there any more I can do to keep my hair? I cannot live with applying topics 2x a day forever, and thus i need something (like nizoral) which is convenient and practical.
5) Is my crown thinning?
6) Any other advice you can give me?

thanks i hope so too.. but it could be that my male pattern baldness has slowed down naturally and i will shed in the upcoming months and that my regimen hashad no effect. Could you answer the questions i posted??

Id like more opinions plz.. i took time to take these photos and would like some help!! :)

Of course anything is possible...but your scenario is highly highly unlikely. male pattern baldness doesn't just "slow down" after 7 months. male pattern baldness continually rapes your follicles until they are dead.

If you've seen a decrease in shedding then it's due to the finasteride.

"I had a headache today, but it went away after I took some Tylenol. Do you think it was the Tylenol, or did it just stop hurting by itself?" Ya...probably the medication...

That doesn't mean anything. Don't obsess over hair counts. You're doing the right thing taking pictures. Unfortunately it's hard to compare the 2 sets you've taken as the lighting seems slightly different. Doesn't seem to look any worse to me though from what I can see.

Patience will be the key on a finasteride only regimen. Give it a good year and just keep taking those photos :)

Totally agree with hairhoper: what the hell 20 hairs? That's nothing! Even someone not balding loses that much.

You are doing good, it definietly hasn't gotten worse on the pics. Actually better if you ask me...

:bravo:

thanks dude, its hard not to panic when you see fallen hairs though..

What Norwood would u say I am? Also, in the after pictures i had used head n shoulders shampoo the day before and that might be why it looks thicker? :dunno:

Do yourself a favor and stay off the forums for 5 months. Also stop worrying about your hair for 5 months. It sounds to me like you're looking for reasons as to why your hair might be getting worse. Everytime someone says "looks good bro!" you come back with a "well...it might just be because...."

The worrying won't do anything for you but make you worry more.

I don't know that there's any hairloss drug that will prevent you from being bald for the rest of your life. Personally, I have less hair now that I did in May of 2009 when I started on finasteride. However, I lost more hair between May 2008-2009 than I have in the past 3 years combined. Slowing your hairloss counts as a positive result.

In 5 years you went from an NW0 to an Norwood 2.5 or 3....yet you haven't progressed any farther than that in the last 7 months. I'd consider that a success.

Take a chill pill :hump:

Not just the forum but away from the mirror, camera etc etc. That goes for everyone experiencing hair loss whether they're treating it with medication or not. I hate the idea of anyone experiencing the addictive anxiety that I've been through because of it. It's like OCD with an added punch.
