finasteride 5mg

So I've just had a six month supply of finasteride arrive at my house and I'm ready to start taking. I've noticed that the pills are 5mg and it made me wonder why that is? Everywhere online recommends 0.5-1.25mg per day and states not to take 5mg so it makes you wonder why do they manufacture something that cannot be taken?

Also, on the packet It says not to split the pills!

(At the moment I am splitting the pills and chancing it)

You ordered proscar which is used for Benign prostate hyperlasia, the treatment works exactly the same as finasteride but you dont need as much for it to be effective for hair loss so just cut the pill into 1/4s with a pill cutter and you're good to go

Haha I didn't realise it was originally for the prostate. So long as it works!
