Hi All,

I've been on Finasteride for 10 and a half months now.

The top of my head keeps on thining. Every time I see small hairs growing I lose even more.

I'm patient and will stick it out for another 2 months. Is it worth try Dutasteride next? I have also debated trying the kirland minoxidil foam.

My may aim here is to see if anybody else had no results with finasteride, but had joy with dutasteride or minoxidil?

Thanks in advance

finasteride is for manteining what you have but if your baldness is a little agressive it wont help too much.

minoxidil will help you with some regrowth and thickken your existing hairs. dutasteride is really strong and can give you some regrowth too. if you havent got any sides on finas give it a try.

Are you 100% positive you're still losing hair or is that what you assume from the shedding? I'm slightly over 9 months and feel pretty confident in saying I'm maintaining, sometimes I think I'm losing but my hair doesn't look any worse than it did 9 months ago tbh

2 more months won't do you anything. If you're continuing to lose at the 10.5 month mark, you're probably not responding well, or it just isn't strong enough to completely stop your loss but is slowing it down slightly. If you have experienced no side effects, then dutasteride may be your next best option. It is more likely to stop your hair loss, but unlikely to cause regrowth if you have none on finasteride (possible though). Minoxidil can cause insane regrowth in some people, so you could give that a try but you may want to implement dutasteride into your regimen as well to help with maintenance, because without an ar-inhibitor (that is actually working) you are likely to continue to lose hair even if a strong responder to minoxidil.

I started dutasteride 2 months ago after 2.5 years on finasteride and minoxidil (continued to lose ground big time). I haven't seen any changes since dropping finasteride and minoxidil and switching to dutasteride (other than increased sex drive/libido which seems weird), but if you do decide to wait another 2 months I can let you know how its going.
