So I'm 22 and I now realize that my hair loss will become a problem, although I still have a full head of hair that people would propably call thick I have had temple recession. Recently I have also noticed that I shed alot, when showering I would say I lose around 30 hairs. I've decided to do something about it as I do not want to wait until I have visible hair loss.

I am going to see a doctor in a week and ask to get tested for things that might have led to hair loss. I want to know from experienced users what I should ask to be tested for? As I am in Sweden our doctors are stingy with running tests as it will cost the government money, thus I need to be assirtive and know what to ask for.

I've just ordered proscar from qhi in case if the doctor refuses to prescribe it although I would prefer to get it by prescription as it is cheaper than buying it over the net, any tips on how I might do so? Also wondering if anybody on this board is from Sweden and has a doctor that prescribes them proscar?

I've also bought nizoral and ordered kirklands minoxidil 5%. Are there any other products I should consider looking at? I've read most of the information and decided to go with the big three but I may have overlooked some others so I would appreciate some help.

Wangling some propecia or dutasteride on prescription has been something which I've wondered about for some time now, as I'm studying in the UK, which has a pretty good health service. The only thing I can think of that he'd prescribe it for is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. Sounds good so far eh?

Unfortunately, the delightful test for this illness involves the doctor basically fisting you to get a good feel of the enlarged prostate gland, and there aint no doctor gonna be doin that to me, cheapness or no cheapness.

Well i was mostly hoping to be able to convince the doctor or derm to prescribe proscar instead of propecia on a possible male pattern baldness diagnosis. I'm leaning towards emphasizing being a poor student and thus needing a cheap solution, maybe throwing in that the stress over hair loss has severly decreased my quality of life.

Never been to a derm here in Sweden so I don't know how picky they are about prescribing a med that is not intended for the its sole purpose. I'm going back to study in Australia this fall and our campus doctor basically gives us anything we ask for so I guess that could be my contigency plan if they deny me of a proscar prescription.

If you explain to the Dr that they are the exact same drug but in different dosages and that you plan to cut the pill into 4 to get 3 x as much. For a start your Dr won't even know what Propecia is. If you explain what Propecia is and what it is for then he will look it up in his book. Then just explain about Proscar, the exact same drug but in higher dosages. Tell him you have done a lot of research before booking the appointment. He should then give you Proscar.

If he does not, let down the tyres on his car in the surgery car park....
