Film school

This is a little off topic, but I still would like a little advice: I am about to graduate college soon and I would like to go film school. I already have a major that is like film, but I was told by my advisor that grad school/etc. would really help in the long run. What good schools should I apply to? I know USC is a good school, but I am not a huge fan of L.A. (I like Cali., though). Thanks

Berserk, I understand that L.A might not be the friendliest, cleanest or coziest city in the US, but if you are into film, you need to get your *** to L.A sooner or later anyway. NY might be able to get you some attention but L.A offers the biggest market (opportunities) by far.

The sad thing is that you have to spend quite a few years in this hellhole (yes I have been here too long) before you built up the network that you need to succeed. Talent is just a tiny piece of the puzzle. As usual it’s who you know. Anyway, I would suggest that you take a closer look at USC due to the above reasons.

My 2 cents//Thor

Thor, Thanks for the advice. I kinda figured that L.A. is where I would have to go to get anywhere in the film business, but I was hoping there was another way. I had a bad experience with Los Angeles, and that is why I don't really like it (long story). I love movies, but the whole Hollywood scene pisses me off.

I recently graduated from college with a degree in TV/Film. I really don't wanna go to school anymore and I didn't think grad school would be that beneficial for me, because it really depends on people that you know to get you in the business.
One of the people I graduated with is going to grad school at AFI, which is supposed to be really good, and NYU is also supposed to be really good.
I have a couple friends who work on some shows out in LA, so I'm planning on moving out there sometime next year. That's where you wanna be if you want something in TV/Film

HEY AXON,
Did you hear anything about any job openings at the NBC building?
Let me know if you did.

Berserk, I couldn't agree more. The Hollywood scene and all the lying wannabees have left L.A with no personality or soul whatsoever. Most of the people out here will not even spend 2 seconds talking to you if you aren't in the business..I guess that's why people lie their asses off all the time. However, no pain no gain...I’m sure there is room for some good guys as yourself.

I wish you luck//Thor
