Expired proscar/propecia, what's the harm?

I ordered a bunch of proscar pills over a year ago and took them out of the packaging to split them. I have no clue if they're expired or not and was wondering if there's any reason I shouldn't take them now. Does it lose its effectiveness after the expiration date? I kept them in a sealed bottled and I don't want to let it go to waste. What do you think I should do?

why did you cut them a year ago? In doing that you let the drug become exposed to moisture and oxygen. The hard coating on the pill helps prevent that. I have no idea how sensitive finasteride is to the environment but you would have been better off cutting them one at a time.

You did mean you took them out and then cut them, correct?

That's correct, I took them out of the packaging and splitted them. At the time, I thought I would be using them so I cut them all to save me some trouble. I realize now it wasn't such a good idea. I guess I'll order some new pills rather than take the risk of losing some hair.

I would bin them and buy some more. Simply having the piece of mind that the pills your taking are going to work rather than "might work, might poison me" is worth the extra cash.

I would take it until you get new proscar. I don't understand why you buy something that you don't take until a year later. Proscar (although it's cheaper then Propecia) is not cheap and if your going to buy something, you should use it.
