Excessive Hairfall From The Last 2 Months

I have been experiencing excessive hairfall from the last 2 months , i dont know what the reason is.I am a 21 year old guy no one in my family is bald , im pretty sure its not genetic . I even consulted a dermatologist , he prescribed 1 ml finoxidil(10% minoxidil +topical finasteride) .I havent started using finoxidil as im concerned about the side effects and the fact that minoxidil in not a permanent solution and all the growth would be lost on stopping minoxidil. All this has happened over a period of 3 months , i used thick hair . What do i do? Do i start using minoxidil ? What could be the cause for this sudden excessive hairfall?

Well if he prescribed that you must have male pattern baldness....sucks if no one else in your family has it and you do....but it's most likely the case you just got the short end of the stick....goodluck
