Erections Are Just Amazing Once Again Being Off Finasteride

It seems like I have made pretty much full recovery in terms of sexual performance and erection quality being off finasteride for 3 months now.
I did not stop finasteride for its side effects, but for a rather completely different reason (read bottom of post), so this is not a fear-mongering post but just sharing my own experience that perhaps some might find useful.

Time of usage
I have used finasteride in the past and quit and but for for this post I'll mention just my 2nd time around on finasteride.
I took genuine Propecia 1mg ever day for 10 months, bought from my local pharmacy. On the 11th month I was taking it 1-2 times a week before I quit entirely. Been off finasteride entirely for close to 3 months now.

Side effects (sexual)
For the purpose of this post I'd just like to keep it on the sexual side effects. These side effects didn't apper straight away and I was felt at ease taking Propecia, I genuinely had no worries about it but the sides did creep after a while. How long? I can't pin-point it, for some 1-2 months and for some longer than that.
- After not too long, morning wood was absolutely gone, never had a single morning wood anymore.
- Random erections or just a semi-boner from from meeting hot women was almost non existent anymore.
- The ability of feeling like a 'man' or a 'wild animal' whose ready to go on the spot anytime anywhere seemed to have vanished to a great degree.
- While I was still able to get a erection almost any time I wanted, there were too many times that I needed more stimulation and put more effort than usual to get going. Also, the quality of the erections was less, was maybe 80% (just trying to rough guess here), and it wouldn't stay at its hardest for long. Another thing is I wasn't able to maintain and reach that very rock hard state like I used to before where it could stay like that for a long time.
- Decreased semen volume and watery semen. Although this one didn't really bother me much at all. Decreased
- Bottom line: For the most important aspect of it, I was still able to perform but erection quality was not as good, and maintaining the best possible erection I could achieve while on finasteride felt like it was a hard task (pun on intended lol), at times more stiumlation was needed to get hard.

How I feel now (3 months off)

This may sound crazy but I guess I would have never appreciated how great it is to have a good erection if I never took finasteride. So here is how it's going now.
- Morning wood is coming back slowly. But even without it, everything's fine.
- Here is the biggest shocker to me, something I haven't experienced in a long time, I'm literally getting semi-boners in public just sitting or being around hot women of all sorts. It feels so awsome when you feel like you could bang the sh*t of any girl at anytime.
- Erection quality is so much better. I'm finally able to reach that rock hard state and it manages to stay there.
- I'm pretty much now able to reach a very hard state without much effort as opposed to before on finasteride.
- Less water semen and more semen volume. But never cared about this.
- It may be worth mentioning that I while on finasteride I tried zinc in many forms and doses and other vitamins and none of it helped that much, and now off finasteride even without any supplements I'm doing much better.

Why I quit finasteride
It's very important to mention that I did not quit finasteride because of its side effects, and in fact, if I wasn't going through what I'm going through now (something completely different) I would still be taking it most likely.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
[Off-Topic] So what am I going through?
Around the 10th month of finasteride usage I started getting head pressures, headaches that would freaking last all day long. On top of that I would also sometimes feel really spaced out, dizzy/drowsy, and just not very functionable. I eventually quit finasteride entirely to see if it would change anything, but nope, so I'm guessing finasteride had nothing to do with it. I'm still suffering from those life ruining headaches/head pressures every day all day long, tho they vary in degree and sometimes it's bearable and I still function and sometimes I start getting a very dark and gloomy outlook on life. On top of that there days where my energy level is barely fine and others where I feel dizzy/drowsy and fatigued and it's kinda scary living like that. Another weird thing, it's like my body is always on vibrate mode, my body is literally shaking altho very hardly noticable.
I've already been to lots of doctors and done lots of tests and all came fine. Although I still have an MRI and MRA for my head/neck to do coming up next month, and if that comes clean, then as much as I find it hard to believe, maybe I am suffering from anxiety afterall. As for the moment I'd rather not go back on hair loss medication until I can figure out what's going on.

Good post.

Consider microdosing RU in the future.

How old are you and what's your BF%?

Hah, thanks David, although I felt like I rambled too much and described things with TMI, and from what I've gathered on this forum is that if a post is longer than 2 paragraphs there's a good chance no one will bother reading it.

I can't believe I forgot the most important piece of information, I'm 32 and I kept telling myself it's just my age and nothing to do with finasteride but I'm glad I still 'got it' afterall.
I'm 6'2" and before I started suffering (from what I described at the bottom of my initial post) I was hovering give or take a few lbs 220lbs as my morning weight, and body fat was pushing close to 20%. At the time I was weight lifting regularly, mainly training for strength and a few accessories for size/hypertrophy.
Right now I'm around 195lbs and maybe 16% bf, I've lost a lot of size and stength, and even tho I lost some fat I lost too much mass. I now go to the gym whenever I feel I can manage it and I just do very beginner style workouts.

Thanks for advisijg on RU, I will definitely consoder it hopefully when i get better. As much I want to save my hair and I went from having decent hair on meds to being practically bald in just few nonths (I get tons of weird looks from ppl, I wonder if they think I wore a wig or something), my overall well being and health is more inportant.

And your hair? How was it being on propecia?

Well hello there! Seeing as you signed up and this is your 1st post I wonder if this is your alt account or genuinely your first. Bit regardless, welcome to the forum.

When I started my 2nd round on Propecia which lasted 10+ months my hair was not doing well at all, I had to use a concealer (hair fibers) every day before I felt the house. After 3.5 months on finasteride I added minoxidil foam 2x a day applied to the entire top scalp, although this wasn't ny first time on minoxidil, I used it a few years befoew that with good results.
The first 6 months on finasteride everything was going downhill ans I was losing more hair and every month I had to use more concealer to hide my diffuse thinning. But around the 10th month my hair was looking so much better that for the first time in 2 years I was able to leave the house without applying a concealer, although my hair was far from perfect and had some thinning, it looked prerfectly normal for someone in his 30's that using a concealer would be useless unless you wanna look as perfect as possible.
While finasteride I was generally fine, maybe slight fatigue now and then, and occasional brain fog but even before finasteride I was always complaing to my doctor about fatigue so I can't blame finasteride on that. I was still making progress in the gym in terms of mass and strength and with the new hair I got from finasteride/minoxidil it's like able to put back the missing piece of the puzzle to boost my looks. I was definitely getting more noticed even by much younger when I had more hair and could finally do a better haircut, and even tho I'm 32 most people always thought I'm 25-26 which is quite a compliment. It also felt that girls don't care if you're much older as long as you look decent and still got decent hair.

But now without the hair meds I lost unbelivable amount of hair in a few months and I feel like I look 30+ regardless if I have good skin. It also feels like I lose major point on first impression even though I'm tall with decent physique. Maybe if I get a tan and and manage to find the perfect balance of buzzcut length to beard/stubble ratio I could do better.

I could go on all day on what it's like to be with decent hair compared to being practically with NW4 diffused pattern which is what I am now, and all in a few months off meds. But as I said earlier, at the moment, for me, my general health and well being is even more important than hair. So hopefully when I get better, I might get back to treating hair, it's better to have some hair than being slick bald in my opinion.

Thank you Massive! It's really my first post on the forum, I've been following a lot of stories for a long time here, since I started to lose my hair too.

Sorry for my english..it's not my native language.

I liked your story because I'm going through the 'same problem' as you. I'm almost going crazy on whether to take or not propecia. By the way, I'm only 18 and just on minoxidil. Despite have had some regrowth on it, I feel that my hair won't survive for a long time and I'm getting really depressed about this sh*t.

I already took propecia for only 6 days but then stopped after reading some horror stories on propecia help. I had a weaker erection but only noticed after stopping. What scared me the most were the stories of people that committed suicide because of depression and anxiety attacks. If I hadn't read those stories I would probably being on propecia.

So, seems like we are in similar situation.

Are you really convinced to come back to propecia, even with the erections problems?

Have you considered that minoxidil is giving you sides like headache or pressure
