Emu--Cost Effective??

why is emu oil so freaking expensive? it's just freaking emu fat.

from what i've read on posts, most people buy the straight oil and work it into their scalp. with this process, how long would an 8 oz bottle last? is it cost effective?

has anyone ever tried this shampoo/conditioner combo? If you can get past the ridiculous hair growth claims (just seeing things like that turn my stomach), it seems like it might be an easy way to work emu oil into a regimine. though, when a 4oz bottle of straight oil costs $22, and this whole set costs $30, it makes me wonder how much emu oil is actually in the shampoo and conditioner. why do i get suckered in to crap like this?

If emus have to die to get the oil, then that is why it is expensive. emus aren't exactly chickens.

i don't think they are killed for the oil. i think the fat is just rendered as what's left over after the meat is taken.

I didn't mean they were bred and slaughtered purely for their oil. Emus are large birds and emu farms are not exactly numerous compared to, say, chickens. This will affect the price.
