Effect of Finasteride on hair growth rate

Hi,

I am currently taking Finasteride 1mg qd for the past 2 and a half month.
My hair is currently in stage 3/4 male pattern baldness, with much less hair in the frontal region.
After taking the medicine, I cannot seem to differentiate the effect of Finasteride on my hair. In addition, I notice that the hair in my frontal
region grows much slower than the back side. I am wondering if Finasteride will increase the hair growth rate of my frontal region?
Also, has anyone tried the combination of Finasteride with Saw Palmetto? If so, does it work more effectively towards slowing down the hair loss?

Thank you for your response in advance,
Giorgio

Two and a half months is often too soon to notice a difference in hair quality with finasteride. In studies, most patients experience a difference at the six months mark.

I wouldn't advise taking saw palmetto with finasteride because it works exactly the same way as finasteride except it's much weaker. If you want something stronger than finasteride, consider taking dutasteride instead.

About slow growth rate, yes finasteride may help because it's most probably the result of follicle miniaturization, just wait and see :p

Thank you so much Vlatch for your reply. Do you suggest any other treatment or medication together with finasteride?

shedding as normal or even faster for first few weeks-months is normal. If you want max regrowth possible, you should be using minoxidil/rogaine in combo with finasteride. finasteride is very effective if you are satisfied with just maintaining though
