Early receding hairline

Over the last year and a half my hair has started thinning out and receding. It's not as thick as it used to be, and ive started to develop type 2 hairloss.

I heard that the earlier you catch hairloss and treat it, the better it is. I went in the store to look at rogaine the other day, and it said "not to be used on receding hairlines" so what kind of options do I have?
I don't want the problem to get worss, and I would like thicker hair.

Uh, I'm regrowing hair along my front hairline taking that exact combo. My temples have grown back quite a bit already (4 1/2 months). :D

what are you using?

Generic Proscar (Fincar) cut into quarters (1/4 daily), and Kirkland Rogaine, (twice a day). Just plain old minoxidil and finasteride, and it's cheap as hell too. I only wish I did this years ago.

From what I have read, Rogaine wasn't tested for the front hairline, only for the crown area, so they can't/don't claim it will work there. It supposedly still works, just not as well as on the crown. For me, when I first tried Rogaine I had no luck with it at all, crown or front, so I quit.

Now that I'm on the Proscar/Rogaine combo (as of Jan 1st) one or the other or both of them are working. I'm under the impression (again from what I have read) that the two compliment each other. The Proscar helps block the DHT and provides a better enviornment for the Rogaine to work, and the Rogaine helps with the regrowth.

All I really need to know is: I have more hair on my head now than I did 4 months ago (looking better than my avatar these days), and I'm not losing any. Folks also suggest spironolactone for the temple/hairline area, but I have not used it.

im not really into perscription drugs, so i dont know.. I dont mind trying the rogain, I guess that could be my first start. If no luck in 6months or so I can try a perscription.

I am trying to help the situation now, instead of later. Like you said, you wish you had done something sooner. Im at the very beginning.

if anyone else has any advice, id be much appreciative. Are there any small things that I can do to help the DHT problem?

diet/exercise/habits etc...

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to push you into Propecia/Proscar at all, I'm just passing along what has worked for me. If you take a look around the forum, there are lots of folks trying "natural" alternatives, but I decided to not go that route, so I don't think I'd be much help there...

Mainly I was just responding to the person above that mentioned "minoxidil and finasteride work to maintain other areas. It is not effective on the frontal or side temples", as that is all I'm taking and I'm seeing regrowth in those areas.

I treat my receeding hairline with naturalis topical. Have been on it for a year now.

I stop using it as the dick is starting to limp. Do your homework first.

Naturalis topical is a scam product, and you are a shill.

I looked at your profile, clicked "view all postings", and every single one of your postings is an advertisement for this 'naturalis topical'.

Guys, see for yourselves:
