dry/moist hair

hey i am curous.... what is better for hair... when the scalp is dry or oily? i used to have an extremely dry scalp/hair... then all of a sudden it got oily as hell... my scalp in thinning areas reflected light like crazy... however, just recently it got dry again.. (after showering with cold water and limited conditioner use)... what is better does it matter??

Not Oily and not dry... just right. But you either have an oily or dry scalp so sometimes thats hard to maintain.

This is conjecture. I have seen no evidence posted on these forums that maintaining an average level of sebum on the scalp is beneficial for hair loss.

Please correct me if I'm wrong though.

A couple of months before male pattern baldness started to do its thing to my hair I noticed a sudden decline in my hair quality it became oily and limp.

I would think your scalp should be not too oily and not too dry.

are you sure that shiny scalp=oily scalp?

Couldnt be dry and shiny? Under specific light my scalp(buzzed hair) seems shiny but I think I suffer from dryness.
