Dry hair on finasteride- what does it mean?

8 weeks on propecia, seems my hair had become more dry than b4..previously during the intial stages of male pattern baldness(since 2003 beginiing), my hair always had been oily and such, even after shampooing the hair will get back to oily again after 12 hours....What does this new dryness signify under medical terms?

I doubt anybody here can answer that because you seem to be a unique case. Most experience oily skin not the reversal.

No, dry hair is normal. Most people experience extra-oily skin and hair during the initial stage of taking finasteride. This can be attributed to the increase in testosterone. As the body evens things out, the skin and hair actually get less oily with finasteride, even leading some people to say it exacerbates the process of wrinkling.

i don't know if this helps, but my hair went through a HUGE dry spell, it was like hay, when i first started using propecia. but this may have been because i washed my hair very infrequently before starting my hairloss regimen (propecia/nizoral/shampoo everyday). eventually my hair just got used to the new environment, and began to feel nice and soft so hang in there, it may go away on its own, but i would try messing around with some conditioners, etc.

I nto noticed my hair feeling soft and full in the shower...is it becos of this dryness or is cos propecia is working to ticken hair?

anyway i feel this drynesss is good and helps to add body to hair.....
