I'm 45 and I recently decided it was time for me to get on finasteride and realize I need to do it rather quickly. I had an appt. with a dermatologist and a hair loss specialist. I was given 2 different opinions on dosing and was wondering what people thought. One Dr. told me that he would only prescribe 1mg and have me take 1/2 a pill each day. He claimed .5mg was just as effective as any other dose. The other told me that he would give me proscar and have me take 1.25mg each day. A called another derm to set up appointment and he would only prescribe 1mg so I didn't go to him.
I'm hoping to take the finasteride and do it as cheap as possible. Have people had success at .5mg daily? 1.25mg daily?
