Dosage of finasteride

Hi

I haven't found out what the half-life of finasteride is. I am considering whether to take 0.5 mg each day or 0.5 mg EoD. What do you recommend?

The half-life of finasteride in the blood is around 5-6 hours in younger men, and somewhat longer in older men. The exact number really doesn't make much difference, though, because the biological effect of finasteride in keeping DHT levels suppressed lasts a lot longer than the serum half-life of the drug itself. It can take a week or two for DHT to get all the way back to normal, after the last dose of finasteride.

So in principle 0.25mg EOD is (rougly) equivalent of 0.25 mg every day, regarding DHT level?

Roughly equivalent, yes, although they may start to become a little _less_ equivalent, as you go to lower and lower "microdoses" of finasteride!

If you aren't having side effects just go 1 mg a day, it can only help.
