Don't you think it would be a good idea to produce a "super-finasteride"

By that I mean a 5-AR inhibitor that wipes out pretty much all of the DHT produced by the 5-AR type 2 enzyme, but doesn't touch the type 1 enzyme at all. In my opinion, it would be great if some company could invest in producing a drug that had the same level of potency as Dutasteride for the type 2 enzyme, but without any of the additional unnecessary inhibition of the type 1 enzyme. Do you think this idea is something that a pharmaceutical company would ever consider investing in?

Why not create a drug to beat cancer, which just targets the cancer cells? :dunno:

Easier said than done :p

It could probably be done but your underestimating the time and costs it would take to make that and go back through the approval process when there already is finasteride. Also consider all the whining and complaints about sides from just propecia. Also CB is in phase 2 and probably would work better than a more super finasteride anyway so why compete against that? Overall it would be a stupid decision to pursue that at this stage in the game, and all the big companies know that.

Medical advancement takes forever. Why? Humans are inherently different from one another so that makes it very hard. Also, clinical trials take a VERY long time
Also, when negative results effect people, it's posted absolutely everywhere and the company loses money on it. It's like Finasteride and that fear of sexual side effects, which actually seems to effect a very small minority of users.
