Hi there, I'm 23 yrs. old, started using Rogaine approx. 6 weeks ago. As everyone predicts, right at the 1 month mark i began shedding, and i'm continuing to do so, losing more hair now than ever before in my life, Now I know this is normal and is an indication that the treatment is working but when I look in the mirror I notice certain spots getting worse as opposed to better. I guess I'm just concerned that the hair wont grow back. Maybe I'm just over-reacting, but it is kinda freakin me out, can Rogaine have a negative effect??? any advice would help, thanx in advance

If things don't improce after a while, say 6 months, I'd consider quitting. Even if Rogaine doesn't make your grow new hair, almost all of the ones you shed from it will grow back, except for maybe the follicles that are the victims of male pattern baldness miniaturization anyway.

If I read it right, you've only been shedding for two weeks. Read the shedding sticky here: http://www.hairlosstalk.com/discussions ... hp?t=12865 It will help to allay some of your fears.

Ride it out clutch and be consistent with your treatments. We've all been there before.

Shedding happens when you start on Rogaine, and you have to ride it out. Don't get squeamish, it is very common, and even the product literature in the Rogaine box warns that shedding is a very common stage of the Rogaine process of helping your hair.

You are just at week 6 and you need to Stick with it. What you are going through is VERY common and not at all a sign of failure.

Re-read the product literature from your Rogaine kit. Shedding accelerates upon starting minoxidil because minoxidil causes dead, but still 'clung to' hairs on the scalp, to be released by the follicle. This is actually a sign that your follicles are clearing these hairs to make way for enhanced regrowth.
