I wear a cap to conceal my male pattern baldness while I am trying Propecia out but I have noticed when wearing a cap you will get a lot more oil on the scalp than usual. So does having oil and grease on your head has something to do with hair falling out? And does wearing a cap decrease the effectivness of Propecia, Minoxidil and Nizorol?

I would think the oil alone would not affect things too much, but you could have some traction alopecia result. So I guess the answer would be yes then. Be sure to put your hat on carefully, avoiding scraping the crown and also make sure it isn't too tite.

Be sure to wash your hair every day with a good shampoo though if it is getting oily. Can't hurt to have a healthy scalp. If I were you I'd only keep the cap on when people are around.

The road to hell is paved with good intention.

You are at no risk of traction alopecia from a ballcap. None. However, I would wait for minoxidil to dry at least a little before putting one on so to decrease the risk of it being soaked into the cap and not your scalp.

cap will not affect male pattern baldness. it is a myth. as social drinker suggested make sure minoxidil is absorbed in your scalp or else the cap might absorb some of the useful minoxidil.
if you are using retin-A in the PM, using the cap helps in preventing your scalp from sunburn/irritation

it may be true that a cap wont give u male pattern baldness but if u have male pattern baldness then surely wearing a hat all day can only make it worse?

Wearing a hat all the time is not healthy for the hair,it iritates your scalp and your hair never feels worse than when u take a cap off hours later

wearing a cap is nothing more than wearing a cap...it doesnt make you go bald.

i wear underwear all day, i don't have a horseshoe for my pubic hairs.

Haven't you guys ever seen farmers with full heads of hair and little unnatural looking bald spots on their crowns from wearing a hat. that is from traction alopecia. Just be careful putting your hat on is all I'm saying.
