Does this mean what I think it does

"As a result of the rules that have been laid down regarding the use of Propecia, it is obvious that one would have to use this drug for a period of at least one year regardless of the results. This is because one has to wait for at least three months to experience any degree of success and at the same time cannot quit the drug before a year has elapsed as it would trigger hair loss."

Does this mean that taking finasteride for less than a year (or stopping it while you're still shedding), can make you permanently lose hair more quickly than you would have had it not been taken?

Possibly, depending on how long you have been losing hair and/or the type of hair loss you have (you may shock or stress your hair). However if you have been shedding from Finasteride and decided to stop before regrowth had occurred you may have to wait until the Finasteride is completely rid from your body before you can return to a normal state. In some cases Finasteride can cause Telogen Effluvium (telogen Effluvium) which causes the hair to go into a resting phase for a long period of time before regrowing. There is a Finasteride half life depending on how long you have been taking the drug it can add up. I have heard stories from people that had no success with Finasteride, only shed hair, once they stopped they saw the hair they had before starting Finasteride grow back a year later, unfortunately no new hair followed and possibly even some further receding.

Thats rubbish in my opinion. U can stop any time u want.

Yes u should try the drug for 6 months-1 year to give it the chance to work, and see how well it works for u and see if theres side effects.

But if u conclude after any amount of time its not working (despite whether this is correct or not - u may have not given it enough time), then the worst that will happen is ur hair will go back to the way it was b4.

The only hairloss quitting it will trigger is the hairs that regrew while on the drug. If u havent regrown any, and ur sure the baldness has continued, then, its logical to assume that stopping it wont make it any worse.

In short. Watever gains u made will fall out after stopping despite how many years u stay on it. Hair lost from initial shedding from the drug may or may not regrow if u stay on the drug, and it may or may not regrow if u quit the drug.

To put one more spin on it, if ur not getting side effects, then u should actually stay on it 2 years b4 making conclusions. This is the time when ppl report peak results.
