Does thinning on the crown mean signs of baldness ?

As the topic name implies, i don't really have any major serious visible signs of a receding hairline. However I'm more concerned about the back of my head. People have commented before that i have a bald patch in school (possibly as a joke). And even my hairdresser once said that i have two crowns and that i would have a lot of hair now but not in the future. So i decided to investigate the back of my head, and it seems to me that i only have one crown ( i cant seem to find the other one) but it does have certain thinning around it or a tad bigger compared to what i've seen on other peoples heads. And even below the crown there seems to be a line of visible scalp, which i noticed after i shaved my head. So in other words there doesn't seem to be a lot of hair at the back of my head and would like to know is this a sign of male pattern baldness, even though i haven't had any signs of a receding hairline. I'm really concerned(since I'm so self conscious of my image) even though i know most people on this site have had a lot more run of bad luck than me. But any information/advice or experience you would like to share would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi mate,

What you have is a double crown, same as me. It sounds like it could be thinning at the back. Some people receed from the front, some from the back, or like me and probably many others from both, or you can have diffuse thinning where it thins all over in uneven patches.

Anyway, this ain't a lesson on the types of hair loss, so i'll stop rambling, been smoking them jazz cigarettes again.

When my crown started to thin i noticed a bald/thin line at the back like you describe, but without looking at a pic of your hair no one here will know whether your thinning or not for sure.
