Does regaine slow hair loss?

Well? Can it? I ask because I've noticed a little recession in the very centre of my hairline, but the hair either side of it, which I've been applying regaine to, hasn't receded? I'm a little reluctant to apply regaine to the centre of my hairline as I dont want a shed but if it can slow hairloss I obviously will. Can anybody help?

This would just be a short term thing i should add. Hopefully I will be on propecia within the next week or so.
