Does Pulling Your Hair Cause Hair Loss?

Don't take the piss. If you must know some drunken ahole picked a fight with me a few years ago and pulled my hair really aggressively and painfully. I was wondering if this could cause permanent hair loss or at least make male pattern baldness worse.

Shed/break a few hairs, but would have no affect on re-growth.

Well after the fight were you bald in that spot? If he pulled a clump of hair out by the roots it might not grow back, but otherwise I think its fine. The human body or hair specifically is very strong and resistant under normal conditions. Look at how tough body hair is. Ripping it out doesnt stop it from growing back.

Essentially you would have to rip the entire root, and graft for it not to grow back...

Pulling out hair seems to work like wounding up to a point, spurring regrowth. When you pull out too many or too often it has the opposite effect.
