Does Male Pattern Baldness Have An Effect On Only Certain Areas Of The Scalp?

I find it weird that I can pull on hair above the ears, sideburns, and nape of neck and almost always get at least one or two hairs. These don't seem to be the traditional areas to lose hair. Does anyone know what this means?

Do you mean that you catch falling hair in those areas more often than once a day? If it happens more than once every day, you might want to have your thyroid and hormones checked because those are areas where DUPA ("diffuse" male pattern baldness) and other conditions different than typical male pattern baldness attack.

If you are talking about pulling hair and finding one/two strands in your hand no more frequently than once a day, it is normal, because also those parts of the scalp undergo the anagen/catagen/telogen phases. You are just pulling hair that is ready to be replaced by newer hair. The horror of male pattern baldness is that the hair that falls is NOT replaced by new hair, or it is replaced by smaller, worse hair.
