Does male pattern baldness at the crown always move forward?

I'm 20, on finasteride and before I started there were not any noticeable signs of balding. But a trichologist told me that I was at the early stages.

However, recently I've noticed that there is sometimes more scalp visible from my crown towards the BACK of my head. It takes the shape of a line (which makes me think it could just be a weird parting and nothing to do with my male pattern baldness). The line travels quite far down the back of my head.

I think this is unusual because most balding at the crown I see moves forward, left and right of the crown. It tends not to move to the back of the head.

So my thinking is, this could be
a) My Male Pattern Baldness getting worse, in spite of me taking finasteride
b) Just where my hair parts
c) Hair loss induced by some other condition (Telogen Effluvium).

I would take a photo but what I'm describing isn't actually always visible when I observe my crown... I just notice it occasionally. However, I think it has only started happening recently (last 2 months) because I think I would have noticed if it was happening before.

Generally how it starts.

For those with recession at the front, the beggining stages involve the temples receeding back, then the crown starts opening up. Finally a zig zag line from the forelock, all the way to the crown. This zig zag line will push outwards from, front to back and slowly diffuse all over.

Temples go south, crown goes north and the middle spreads outward..
