Yeah they leave small dotted scars
Thanks!......what about an old donor scar from a previous transplant many years ago?....are there ways to cover it up?....plastic surgery?...transplant over?...like if I wanted to go number "0" on my clippers in the back and make the donor scar non visible?

They're often not that visible even with buzzed hair (though if you slick or 0 guard buzz it idk, it also depends on how you scar) but it is possible to get scalp micro pigmentation on it which is basically tattooing dots that look like hair stubble. Some people use it on their completely bald head which looks pretty fake but if it's blended in with natural hair it can look good. Though you need to get a good and experienced artist for this, just like with hair transplants.

Yes, FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplants do leave scars in the donor area. However, these scars are significantly smaller and less noticeable compared to the linear scar left by the traditional FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) method.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) doesn't leave a single linear scar like FUT, but it does create tiny dot-like marks in the donor area where grafts are taken from. In most cases, these are very small and not noticeable once the hair grows back, especially if the extraction is done properly and not overharvested.

The visibility also depends on factors like how short you keep your hair and the skill of the surgeon. With good technique and proper spacing, the donor area usually looks quite natural after healing.

Yes, but not in the way most people picture when they hear the word scar.

FUE doesn't leave a linear scar like FUT does. Instead it leaves small circular punch marks scattered across the donor area where each graft was extracted. At normal hair length these are completely invisible. The question is how short you want to wear your hair going forward.

If you keep a grade 2 or above you will never see them. If you shave down to a grade 1 or go fully shaved the dot pattern can become visible depending on how many grafts were taken and how well the extraction was distributed across the donor zone.

This is why extraction pattern and density management in the donor area matters. A well planned FUE procedure spaces the extractions carefully to avoid overharvesting any single area. A rushed one can leave visible thinning or clustering that becomes apparent at shorter lengths.

So, the honest answer is yes there is scarring, it just looks different from what most people expect.
