Hey guys,

Making a thread to track my hair loss journey. I began noticing excessive shedding 2 years ago in the shower, but didn't notice a significant cosmetic difference until last year, and finally in October 2017 I started taking action. I began taking Finesteride with the goal of maintaining as much for as long as possible. Any regrowth would be a huge bonus, but not expecting it really.

I have receded some over the last two years but the biggest thing that bugs me is my hairline and how it has lost its density. I have always had a more mature and high hairline, but to me it looked good with the density I had. I would love to gain some of that density back if possible.

Regimen:
1.25mg generic Finesteride from Walmart
Switched from Walmart shampoo to an natural ACV shampoo

Been considering adding minoxidil and dermarolling to regimen but have been hesitant because I want to see how I would react to finasteride. So far no sides, and feel completely normal. Wishing I would have started a year ago.

Here are some pics of my hair wet just after showering the day I started finasteride in October 2017. The lighting is kinda weird and sorry for the blurs.

Here are some pic November 2017 when hair is longer and dry with the flash on. No progress, just wanted more pictures for comparison later.

Questions:

Should I add minoxidil and dermarolling?

Also, I have been considering just buzzing hair shorter because I am sick of always making sure it is styled right. What do you guys think?

Open to any advice!!

Well, if you are fine with a buzzcut, why even take pills? but yes, if you are in search of the possibility of having the best possible results, dermarolling and minoxidil should be added. It all depends on your goal, if you only want to stop the hair falling out "flood gates" then continue with finasteride but it's very unlikely to get any regrowth with that except for maybe at the crown.

I personally think a buzzcut with hair looks significantly better than a buzzcut without hair, so that is why I am taking finasteride because I hope to keep some of my hair for as long as possible. Yeah, I will probably add minoxidil and dermarolling soon.
