Docj077, do AR blockers also block the ER?

Do androgen receptor blockers, particularly spironolactone, also block the estrogen receptors? Would that reduce the effects of benificial estrogen? This is an important question because while topical spironolactone may be good for people with lots of DHT, I think in heavy dutasteride users it might be bad to block the estrogen receptor just to block testosterone as well, if the androgen receptor blocker blocks the estrogen receptor.

I know you know the answer to this. Does DHT bind to the estrogen receptor as well? If not, which I'd think would be the case, then probably the AR blockers don't either. Please reply so I can decide how strong of an androgen receptor blocker to use with my topical 5ar inhibitors.

Also, I heard that female hair loss tends to be reversible. Is that true? If so, do you think it is because women have more estrogen than men?

About 75% of scalp testosterone is turned into DHT in men with male pattern baldness. Finasteride keeps a lot from being affected by 5ar2, but dutasteride 2.5mg keeps the other 2/3 from being converted by 5ar1. So the 254% increase in scalp testosterone (from lack of conversion) is very believeable. That is over 3x as much testosterone, which can then be turned into estrogen locally, and may explain dutasteride 2.5's good results. I want to achieve this with topical stuff like curcumin or fatty acids, in addition to oral finasteride.

How would an androgen receptor block an estrogen receptor :lost:

Also what vehicle are you using to make this curcumin topical with? And where are you obtaining this white curcumin powder from?

Someone quoted him a while back saying spironolactone blocks a lot of other receptors. Depending on the AR blocker, some may block the estrogen receptor too. I just wanted to know how common this is, and what some of the effects are.

I'm going to use 65% water, 25% ethanol, 10% PG, 2-3% anti-oxidants.
