Do you Quote the Whole Post?

Just curious - to you guys who see a post the height of a skyscraper, quote the entire thing, and then type a 1 word response at the bottom .... can you delve into why you do that?

When its a huge, long, drawn out story with many paragraphs... why quote the entire thing?

I would like to ... delve into the psyche of the "overquoter".

Enlighten us :)

I do it to ensure it's clear what/who I'm addressing. Sometimes it can be confusing if there are a whole bunhc of people posting replies and not really being specific as to who they are talking to or whose post they are replying to.

Who they are talking to or whose post they are replying to is clearly identified at the beginning of the quoted material!! The point Admin is making is something else: why quote vast quantities of someone else's post, if you're only replying to one or two brief comments he made?

Please, everybody, learn to SNIP the quoted material. Save Admin some disk space, and trim the quoted material to the bare essentials!

The question is why don't people quote the specific comments they're responding to, instead of quoting the entire thing, when its the size of a skyscraper?

A smaller post, like the one above, can be quoted in entirety for convenience sake, but the huge ones ... why quote the whole thing?

I can't stand people who do that , especially when the original post has pictures and then someone on the 5th page decides I'm going to quote the gigantic original post.

Do not quote the original post! Every reply is should be directed to the original post. If you want to quote someone elses reply ,then do that by saying (Reply to :username xxx) at the begining.

Are you referring to Falceros? I would fall asleep halfway through his post.
