Have a recedig hairline. Left temple very thin and diffuse, mid-front is fine, right temple starting to thin but everywhere else is thick. I am 22. No one is bald in my family (7 men over 50). Father started to thin at 55. Thinking of getting on propecia to thicken and maintain my front but I am hearing from others that it will not work here. Anyone have any success in a similar situation??

It's not as simple as that. Everyone is different and results vary a lot.

Propecia usually works better in the crown area, but in some cases it may also regrow/preserve some hair in the front.

You may want to try minoxidil as well.

I know it is not as simple as that. If I thought it was simple then I wouldn't ask the question. the fact is that I know it is rare and just wanted to know if anyone has had success in the front before I get on it because I do not want to get on it if virtually no one has had success in the front because that is the only place where I have loss.

I am a diffuse thinner and have certainly "saved" mine. Had regrowth in the temples and front. But if you only loose in the hairline that is a different case really. Probably minoxidil might be a better choice for you.

Thanks for the reply.... My right temple/corner is thinning but it looks like it is just going a little back and forming a nice NW2 however my left temple/corner goes way further back and also in more (towards the front). I have hair everywhere its just my left side is really really diffuse thinning....The rest of my head is extremely thick including crown....So you think propecia wont really help me?? I rather do propecia since it is easier and only once a day however if most people think rogaine is better in my case then I guess I will do that...I just fear the shed...I was even thinking of shaving my head for cancer awareness month and starting the meds then, in order to not notice the shed....what do you guys think
