Hi Guys,

Would appreciate any suggestions on this.. I am not trying to be whiny or anything (for those who has heard of my story). But I just couldn't figure out why suddenly finasteride stopped working for me.

I had been a VERY good responder to finasteride. First time use 3.5 years ago, (at Norwood 2.5), I saw regrowth in juse 2-3 months and continued thickening thereafter.

Then I stoped for 6 months (in grad school, low on cash), and I started losing very fast. But when I got back on it, again, I responded VERY quickly. I regrew all I lost back in 5 monthes (Norwood 2.5/3).

Beginning last year (after that rapid regrowth), all of the sudden, I had been rapidly thinning (diffused, all over the scalp but more on crown). Now I am Norwood 3.5/4, despiting being on finasteride all this time.

Would it be possible that I have something else in addition to male pattern baldness? I know finasteride starts losing effectiveness after a few years, but I had suspected gradual, not dramatic, loss esp. for a good responder.

Is that possible that in
- Somehow my liver is messed up and finasteride cannot be metabolized to do its job?
- Telogen Effluvium ( don't think so...no major stresss or illnesses)
- Hyperthyroidism (I sweat a lot and easily anxious)
- STD (I heard syphyllis can cause hair loss)
- Other crap??

Thanks

I think you should go to the doctor even if you suspect those things....

The dramatic thinning could be a seasonal shed....

OR

Since u were inconsistent in using propecia that could have messed up your hair cycles...anyway i cant confirm too....Maybe u could wait for a few months to see if your situation improves while taking propecia consistently

Wait for the other expereince posters to respond....and keep this thread up...
