Do I carry on, try something new or give up?

My temples started to recede at about 20, my hair loss became noticeable at about 28 across the whole vertex, but I wouldn't consider it agressive.

I've been on finasteride for 14 months now. After 10 months on finasteride I decided to add minoxidil, so I've been on that for 4 months.

My hair loss has steadily increased over that time, accelerating since adding the minoxidil. It's now gotten to the point where I have to shave it all off to look respectable.

I'm not sure where to go next. I'm considering lowering my finasteride dose, adding RU and perhaps dropping the minoxidil.

Any thoughts / advise?

If you're desperate, I'd go for RU58841/Eucapil and/or Mega-Tek/Folligen/Spectral RS in with your minoxidil! Those all seem like good products that any combination of which will give it a kick!

Actually, maybe swap the minoxidil for Spectral DNC instead of adding RS?

I'm not desperate, I've accepted the fact that I'll lose the battle eventually. It just feels like all the meds have done so far is make things worse.

I expected things to have improved by now, when in actual fact I feel I'd have more hair if I'd never have started the meds, especially minoxidil

I would prob stay on the minoxidil, u maybe just shedding the old hairs in the temple area and what comes after maybe thicker and stronger. I wouldnt give up if I were u. I started putting minoxidil foam on my hairline and temple area a month ago and have not really shedded yet, but I am sure I will.

I just.. I feel that something like minoxidil works even BETTER when combined with other things, hence why Spectral DNC is so cool (when it's a good formula).

Encouraging growth can be a unified thing :)

Joshua claims tremendous success with a combo of Folligen, 5% minoxidil and Mega-Tek conditioner, for example :)

I need to try and keep the cost in check. Adding anything more than RU would be taking the cost to the extreme and I won't let it rule my life.

My only concern is, if the big 3 isn't working for me is there really any point in trying RU (or anything else)

Well, assuming your hair loss is male pattern baldness, then blocking or otherwise desensitizing androgen receptors should do the trick. I would just experiment if I were you, primarily with things like RU, Eucapil, and growth stimulants :)

I of course have some unusual views on this stuff with regards to hair loss triggers, but all those treatments are pretty good I think :)

I suggest you not to waste your time and mental sanity or anybody else's for that matter by engaging in random regimens where you use fluids from poisonous plants, thinking male pattern baldness is related to egg intolerancy, blindly believe some soy supplement will be the cure or claim that you have found a cure.

At present you seem to be on some form of a real treatment[nizoral] which is good and I hope you stick with it.If you have family history of baldness then start on something solid and dont get paranoid & stop it after a day or two. When I see your profile picture,I see somebody[my guess is it is you] with John Lennon-esque hair...I highly doubt that you will go bald.I dont know whether your genetics are screwed up enough to make you visibly bald and you can afford to play with these alternative ideas without losing none and I dont have anything against that as it is your hair, its your call, your the boss, the top dog,the main man,the head honcho..... :)

Word of advice don't wrongly advice the newbies here with your alternative cures cause they might have serious hairloss[NW2.5-3 and above] and could lose an awful lot while experimenting with those fun theories.

I like to call a spade a spade. :) I don't mean to be rude and maybe you do have other problems that are making you panic like this.

Regards.

That has absolutely no relevance to the thread, I didn't even mention any of that stuff.

Please don't follow me around HairLossTalk.com continuing this pointless fight because I really do have better things to do ok?

WTF man!!! you asked for my suggestion and mentioned something about unknown treatments to a guy who is trying proven treatments. No this isn't a fight :smack: Jesus,I am not following you either, why would I do that ? its just that when one hangs around here long enough you get their attention by posting a decent lot of Dr.Crazy stuff.I'll end it here for now.

I'm not a newbie, I've been on these forums longer than both of you.

I'm just looking for anyone who, like me, hasn't had great success with the big 3 and swapped to something else (like RU) and had success from that.

I realise it's a bit of a long shot as most of the RU guys also had success from finasteride also.
I think Irish was the only exception to this although he seemed to have some sort of reaction to finasteride.
