Do I Begin Minoxidil At The Same Time At Propecia Or Wait?

Hi,

I'm quite a heavy diffuser at Norwood 2-3. I just started treatment with Finasteride 1mg yesterday. I can understand that it might be a good idea to wait with Minoxidil for 6 months or so, to be able to discern the effects of the two treatments. But my temples are extremely thin at this point, and I'm wondering if they'll maybe die in the 6 months if only on finasteride (since it seems to be less effective at temples), and then be unsolvable with the minoxidil?

I can see the point in waiting but I don't want to risk the last hairs in the temples. Do you think there is a big chance they will go past the point of no return, if I'm on Propecia? I also want to start straight away with minoxidil anyway, so is there even any point in waiting?

I will give you my experience Flagermus. I took finasteride for about 2 years from Feb 2016. I didn't see any progress. I think at best it maintained. I quit it in January this year. Then I started on minoxidil as a last resort. I started to see minor improvement. Since then I've upped the game but with hindsight, I wish I'd started both together. I may have had success sooner and saved more hair (as you're hoping). So my advice would be to get on both. Also, consider derma-rolling. I started in the summer and have recently got a better roller. Am hoping to see further progress. It's slow going. I think even on all this it'll take a year or two to see results.
