Do dermatologists write prescription for Proscar or its generic (Finasteride 5mg)

Propecia or finasteride 1mg is too expensive. There is no way I can pay anywhere from 60 to over 150 per month for those meds.

I went to three dermatologists and they all declined to write me the prescription for Proscar or its generic.

I'm thinking of going to a general practitioner to get Proscar/generic prescription. Can this be done?

I just asked my dermatologist to do it for me because it was cheaper. He agreed it was a good idea and had zero issues.
