DIFFUSE THINNING.. What is it?

Im a diffuse thinner with receded temples.. But my question is what is diffuse thinning?

Lets say I have a set of hairs: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10

Is diffuse thinning where 2, 4, 6, 8 all miniturize and disappear?

Or is it 1 to 10 all miniturize at the same time?

If your a diffuse thinner, do you still have the same hair count, but the hairs are finer to the point of seeing scalp? Or have you actually lost hair?

I think it's just a different pattern of male pattern baldness hitting you...becuz the androgen hit all the hairs...that is 1-10 will be hit...but it might be say 1-3-6-9...and over time the others will be hit...rather then the receding hairline...but as inMPB it would start with minizatuirzation and then loss of the follicle itself...for example me and mybro (@ the age of 13!!) are both affected by it...He has Norwood 0...i haveabout a Norwood 1.5....he has for the most part lots of dense hair...but theres certain angles where sunlight or w.e. will shine through...me on the other hand, it seems like density loss has begun, in addition to a mass miniaturization. As for what it really is, I dunno, but Im speaking from expereince.

Im kind of surprised noone chimed in on this...it goes to show you just how rare diffuse alopecia in males is...I think something like only 100,000 men in the US have it.

bullshit. i think 75 million males in the US are balding and you're telling me that only 1 in 750 of the balding males have diffuse alopecia? sorry man i just can't believe that.

and to be fair...I know way way more receders then I do diffusers...in real life I've seen maybe 4 or 5...compared to the 100's of receding hairlines I see.

sorry bud. look at the synonyms below:

"Alopecia Areata is listed as a "rare disease" by the Office of Rare Diseases (ORD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This means that Alopecia Areata, or a subtype of Alopecia Areata, affects less than 200,000 people in the US population. "

When they say diffuse, they are referring to alopecia areata, and not diffuse male pattern baldness. the word patchy should have given it away.

I am not sure but I think they may have lumped all those types of hairloss..that dont fit the traditional male pattern baldness into 1...as in all of those together...I dunno Jayman, i can believe 200,000...like I said I very rarely see guys with diffuse alopecia...just like girls are rarely seen with receding hairlines...

i know LOTS of diffuse thinners, and i think about half of the people i know who are receeding are also diffuse thinners in crown and vertex. i've been a receeder for 3 years, just realized in a diffuser too.

I'm diffuse, with very slight recession. To my knowledge, diffuse thinning is the easiest to correct right?

Diffuse hairloss is incredibly common. Pretty much all men eventually have DHT induced diffuse hair, to a degree. No escaping being a man...

more commonly then receding hairlines? just makign sure cuz thats what i mean by diffuse hairloss and thats exactly what I have.

No, it's not MORE common, but it's certainly nowhere near as rare as you think. I'd say maybe 10% of males who are balding have a diffuse pattern. That's still a huge amount of people.

Oh ok I see...i always thought it was quite rare cuz there isnt too much info on it...I wonder what causes follicles to be attacked in these specific patterns and if diffuse is density loss or fibre thinning...it does kinna suck tho...its like ur a NW0and Nw6 @ once.
