Diffuse Thinning in Horse shoe pattern

I have diffuse thinning almost evenly in a horse shoe pattern. I started useing rogaine foam twice daily. Does anyone have any thoughts on applying it over the entire top of the scalp for a diffuse thinner? Good/Bad idea? Right now I am just doing the crown and the hairline.

Should I up the dosage a tad if I do my entire scalp?

Thanks in advance.

Ive heard of people doing that on this board and had good results but be warned, not only will it hurt your hip pocket because you will go through at least a bottle every 1-2 weeks, but it can make you really dizzy by using high doses because it makes your blood pressure so low. It works but i would work into it slowly. Just dont up your dosage to quickly, your likely to faint or something.

Foam does almost nothing... It's incredibly ineffective. You better start out with kirkland minoxidil for 3 to 4 months and then if you have results go over to some more costly minoxidil solutions that are non-greasy and fast-drying (Dr Lee, Dr Klein or Spectral DNC). Good luck.

I wouldnt say foam does nothing. Ive had very good success with foam on the crown and to a lessor extent the hairline. But having said that I agree with you, if your going to apply that much minoxidil to your head, you'are better off going for liquid rather than foam.

FTank - If I were you I would seriously consider using the Rogaine liquid instead.

Yes - it's a bit messy and is more inconvenient to apply than the foam, but if your desperate for regrowth - liquid is probably your best bet.

In my experience, it regrows hair a lot more hair (and quicker) and is generally more successful than the foam. Which ever option you decide to take though, just don't get your expectations up too high.

Thanks for the suggestons about the liquid. I started the foam about 1 month ago, twice per day. I use Nizoral 1% 3 times per week. Today I am starting Revivogen scalp therapy once at night about 3 hours after my second foam application.

My Regimen is
Rogaine Foam twice per day
Revivogen Scalp therapy once at night
Nizoral 1% rotated with Revivogen Shampoo.

Any advice on how to make ths regimen more effective? Thank again!

Would this routine do any good you think?

Morning:

1. Shampoo and towel dry hair
2. Apply Rogaine Foam
3. Wait 15 minutes or longer and apply topical spironolactone

Evening:

1. Shampoo and towel dry hair
2. Apply Rogaine Foam
3. Wait 15 minutes or longer and apply topical spironolactone
4. Wait 3 hours and apply revivogen (Probably right before you go to bed, but wait till it dries. It dries fast though)

I have no idea why people choose to apply foam after they wash there hair :dunno:

I prefer to wash it after, so my hair doesnt stink all day and look like crap for the rest of the day. But I guess your regime is ok. just dont apply the foam on wet hair, make sure its dried first. Good luck. Give us an update in 6 months!

I think that if you wash your hair directly after applying the foam (or liquid) it washes out all of the effective ingredients of the foam. Thus you have basically just wasted that application.

Anyone else?

Yeah you should let it absorb at least 4 hours I've heard. I don't know what's this fuss about foam being so ineffective compared to liquid. The foam turns into liquid almost instantly when it's applied on the scalp. Basically it's supposed to be the same stuff in different form. I'm keeping my hair buzzed so it's easy to apply foam... I wouldn't even use rogaine if liquid was the only option.

I agree. Infact in warmer climates or summer time, it stays as foam for about 2 seconds before turning to liquid.

I wash my hair 4 hours after application.
